Chef Coats

At the beginning of each academic year, students enrolled in Culinary Arts 2, 3, Advanced Culinary, Interns, Student Assistants, and members of the Competition team will each be issued a school-purchased Chef Coat. Each student issued a Chef Coat is responsible for keeping it clean and wearing it on appropriate cooking days throughout the year. Each student is only issued one chef coat for their entire time in the Culinary Arts Program; additional coats must be purchased.

UNIFORM GUIDELINES

  • Students must wash and care for their chef coat after each wearing according to the directions on the tag. 
    • Pretreat stains with the spray gel located in the laundry cabinet immediately
    • Wash in WARM water with regular detergent, OxiClean is highly recommended. NEVER USE BLEACH
    • Tumble dry low
  • Students are encouraged to leave their clean chef coat in their school-issued locker between cooking days.
  • Students are required to wear a clean, pressed chef coat on cooking days and when participating in special events (as instructed).  
  • If a student alters, defaces, tears, permanently stains, or otherwise damages a chef coat so that it is no longer presentable, the student will be issued a new coat and be charged $55.
  • Students without a CLEAN proper chef coat on a required day MAY be sent to another classroom or PASS depending on the activity and will not receive credit. 
  • If a student would like their name embroidered on their chef coat, they may, provided they
    • Have the embroidery work done at  All Custom Embroidery located at 801 West State Road 436 #1079, Altamonte Springs, FL 32714; (407) 869-1192. Students are responsible for the cost of embroidery. (approximately $15).

ACKNOWLEDGMENTS:

  • If I lose, deface, or permanently stain my chef coat, I understand a new one will be ordered for me and I will be charged $55.
  • I understand I must keep safe and maintain my chef coat during the course of the school year.
  • I understand that I will be issued one chef coat for the entire duration of my Culinary Arts Education at Wekiva and that if I fail to keep my coat in good condition from year to year, I will need to purchase a new one.
