The Ins and Outs of Registering Your Account with ServSafe

Before you can take the exam, you will need to register with ServSafe. This is NOT something you can do on the day of the exam, so follow these instructions BEFORE arriving to take the test.

Step 1.

Go to ServSafe.com and click LOGIN/CREATE ACCOUNT on the top menu bar.

Step 2:

Click on “Create New Profile”

Step 3:

Fill out the New User Registration MAKING SURE to follow the guidelines given. Please note the area in the orange box. You MUST use your student id# for your user id. However. DO NOT USE YOUR STUDENT EMAIL ADDRESS. Most school districts limit outside organizations which can email you… so you will NOT receive the verification email and will end up spending HOURS attempting to recover your account.

Register with your PERSONAL email account!

Your instructor will give you a temporary password to use. Enter that password in the appropriate spot. After you pass the exam, change the temporary password to your own, private password.

This is an incredibly vital step. If you use a different password and forget it, we have no way of helping you log in on exam day. We MUST be able to help log you in, pull your certificate, and make sure you get full credit for taking the exam.

Step 4:

ServSafe will attempt to verify the address you have given. If you get this screen and the suggested address is correct, click “Use Suggested Address.”

If the suggested address is INCORRECT, click “Keep Address the Same.”

Step 5.

Verify that your profile has been created by looking for your name in the upper right hand corner. It should say “Welcome ____________.”
